Josh Dunn is a Tasmanian guitarist, banjo player, and Fulbright Scholar currently residing in New York City. He specializes in jazz guitar from the early 20th century, and since moving from Australia in 2016 he has become a sought after member of the New York jazz scene. He performs regularly at venues throughout the US and Australia, with notable past performances including the Lincoln Center, Cornelia St Cafe, Cafe Bohemia, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Dark MOFO, and Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola

He can be seen playing most evenings in NYC with a wide variety of artists, including Dandy Wellington & His Band, Gordon Webster, Cait Jones, The Baby Soda Jazz Band, Mike Davis and The New Wonders, or as a regular in the house band at Mona’s on Tuesday nights.

In 2014, Josh was the recipient of an Australian Fulbright Scholarship to fund his Masters in Jazz at William Paterson University; during this time he studied with renowned musicians such as Bill Charlap, Gene Bertoncini, Julian Lage, Matt Munisteri, and Armen Donelian.

Growing up in Tasmania, Austrialia, Josh graduated from the University of Tasmania with First Class Honors in 2012; since then, he has had a varied performance and teaching career spanning both Tasmania and New York. He was the recipient of the 2013 ArtStart grant from the Australia Council for the Arts, as well as a Start-up Grant from Arts Tasmania to fund his artistic career.

Josh currently resides in New York City, working alongside a variety of different bands. He is in the production stage of an album slated for release in mid-2019. He most recently wrapped up a Winter Australian tour alongside longtime mentor and musical peer, Danny Healy.
